All local authorities within the Auckland region will be replaced with a single Auckland council on 1st October 2010. The Local Government Commission has been asked to decide on the exact location of the northern and southern boundaries of the Auckland council, and the numbers and locations of wards and local boards to be created in the new Auckland region. The new regional boundary is important to Environment Waikato as Auckland's new southern boundary will be the Waikato region's new northern boundary. The Local Government Commission has released its draft proposals and has called for submissions on these proposals. You can read the draft proposals and find out how to make a submission.
