The condition of rural water and soil in the Waikato region - risks and opportunities

This document provides an overview of the emerging issue of declining water and soil quality in rural areas of our region.

Rural professionals, farmer groups, government agencies, the primary industry and other groups have initiated projects to help improve our water and soil.  Many of these groups have indicated that it would be useful to have a summary publication that lays out the problems, trends and possible solutions. This would help them, and Environment Waikato, in communicating the issues and urgencies, and support the reasons for activities such as nutrient budgeting and the Dairying and Clean Streams Accord.
