Central Waikato
Possum pest control spending is reduced and this will affect the following areas: Hakarimata, Te Akau, Mt Kokako buffer, Whangamarino.
Ongoing drainage and flood protection.
Hamilton
Increased passenger transport services around Hamilton city.
Continue to monitor air quality and community education but a reduced level form the 2008/09 year.
Provide $10 000 funding to Raglan community Xtreme Waste group for one more year.
Matamata - Piako
Waihou-Piako River scheme - funding through targeted rates.
Ongoing drainage and flood protection.
Thames - Coromandel
The Peninsula project continues to provide flood protection in Coromandel town, Tapu, Te Puru, and Waiomu, river and catchment management, and animal pest control.
Whangamata – establish a targeted rate to fund mangrove removal.
Kopu Bridge - The design for the Kopu Bridge upgrade has now been completed and construction is planning to commence in 2011.
North Waikato- Hauraki
Ongoing drainage and flood protection.
Ongoing investment controlling pestweeds including privet, gorse, woolly nightshade and alligator weed.
South Waikato - Rotorua
Provide funding for keeping stock out of waterways and pest control.
Estuarine pest plant eradication in Kawhia and Aotea Harbours continues under DoC supervision.
Continue to monitor air quality and community education but at a reduced level form the 2008/09 year.
Taupo
Continue to monitor air quality and community education but a reduced level form the 2008/09 year.
Plant and animal pest control spending reductions.
Waipa - King Country
Pest control spending has been reduced in western parts of the Waikato. This will affect Piopio–Aria and the Pirongia–Hauturu area. Mokauiti and Mahoenui projects will proceed in the 2009/10 year.
Continue to monitor air quality and community education but a reduced level form the 2008/09 year.
The Cambridge Bypass is a key project identified for a start in the next 3 years.
